Enlargement has been the European Union’s most successful foreign policy tool. It has enriched our culture and society through its diversity, keeping the continent on the path of peace and democracy for decades now. However, some authors believe that recent enlargements were already a step too far, bringing on board countries that do not respect the European Union’s standards and carry along dangerous instability. This raises our debate’s central question, “Should there be further enlargement to the East?”
